Takes industry by storm
Since its debut, ENRX’s Compact Weldac high-frequency induction welder has made a standout impact in the tube and pipe industry. But what exactly explains the ongoing success of this compact powerhouse?
The Compact Weldac entered a competitive market filled with low-cost alternatives. Yet tube and pipe manufacturers around the world continue to choose ENRX. Why? This compact welder delivers the performance, reliability, and simplicity that modern production demands.
“The Compact Weldac remains one of our most popular models,” says Mark Prasek, Sales Manager at ENRX USA.
“It’s compact, robust, and solves real production challenges. It just ticks all the boxes for a lot of manufacturers.”
A market shaped by performance
“To understand why the Compact Weldac became so successful, you first need to understand the welder market,” Mark explains. “ENRX has long been a leader in high-frequency technology, but better technology usually comes at a higher price.”
That price is often justifiable on large-scale production lines, where even a brief stop means high downtime costs. For those applications, uptime, performance and energy efficiency outweigh the initial equipment cost. On smaller lines, though, the benefits can be harder to measure.
“There are many budget welders out there,” says Mark. “Our goal was to offer all the core benefits ENRX is known for — but at a price that makes sense for the compact segment.”
A bright and focused solution
That goal was achieved by combining ENRX’s proven technology with advancements in silicon carbide (SiC) inverter modules and packaging it all into a smaller, more innovative design. The Compact Weldac is focused on welders rated for 300 kW and below and is tailored for the world’s largest market segment of tube mills.
“To be clear,” Mark points out, “the Compact Weldac is not a simplified or compromised model. It offers all the same benefits as its bigger brothers.”
Those benefits include:
- A short-circuit proof design that protects the generator from arcs, flashovers and direct shorts, resulting in higher uptime
- Fully automatic electronic load matching — no operator intervention or internal moving parts
- Power regulation at inverter frequency — far faster than SCR machines, so arcs and flashovers no longer need to be defects
- 91% electrical efficiency from mains to coil
- Constant power factor of 95% at all power levels
Compact design. Big benefits.
The Compact Weldac is housed in a single-cabinet design, making it easy to install and ideal for retrofits. Its small footprint saves valuable floor space and requires fewer materials to manufacture, reducing both energy use and environmental impact.
“And last but not least,” says Mark, “the advanced SiC inverter technology is backed by a five-year warranty, which gives customers real peace of mind.”
Real-world performance
As Sales Manager in North America, Mark has seen firsthand how the market has responded to the Compact Weldac. He shares a few examples:
One tube producer, dealing with increasing downtime on an ageing welder, installed a Compact Weldac. Just one month later, they returned to purchase two more.
Another customer had issues with poor matching and output stability. The Compact Weldac fit their existing positioning table perfectly. By the second day of commissioning, they were already producing tubes — and using less power to do so.
Matching makes the difference.
A question Mark often hears is: “Does it have automatic matching?” For good reason.
“Unless you’ve experienced a poor matching situation, it’s hard to explain the value of automatic load matching,” Mark says.
“Some producers simply accept that their welder won’t deliver full power across their product mix. But the Compact Weldac — like all ENRX Weldacs — offers continuous automatic electronic load matching, with no operator action required.”
And once customers understand that, he says, they tend to relax.
Clear advantages, brilliant timing
The Compact Weldac is a single-cabinet machine, which significantly simplifies installation, particularly in retrofit scenarios where space and time are tight. Add a five-year inverter module warranty, and it becomes clear: this welder stands out in every discussion.
“If ever there was a time to replace a vacuum tube or older solid-state welder, that time is now,” Mark concludes.
“The Compact Weldac delivers reduced running costs, better uptime, high-efficiency and improved output. It’s a smart upgrade — and one that pays off.”
